With a long track record in tutoring, supervising, and lecturing, I am a passionate teacher. Transferring knowledge to a new generation while learning from their fresh perspectives energises me tremendously.
Courses
At Utrecht University, I mainly teach in the Information Sciences programme, where I innovated two courses. I activate students during lectures with engaging slides, quizzes, discussions, dilemmas, and role-play. Let me know if you found the educational resources below helpful or if you have suggestions to improve them.
Information Exchange: introduction to web development and information visualisation (1st BSc)See course contents
Usability Engineering and User Experience: research methods for UX (2nd BSc)See course contents
Guest lectures: I enjoy giving guest lectures related to my research. Feel free to invite me!
Supervision
I love supervising BSc and MSc students firsthand and stimulate them to publish excellent work. Through co-supervision, I also collaborate with experts worldwide. I am currently supervising a doctoral researcher for the first time, Marie-Sophie Simon, who works on human-centred explainability in education.
Teaching awards
I am grateful and proud that my teaching efforts have been recognised by students and colleagues. I received 2 awards for best informatics assistant at KU Leuven and won the university-wide Teacher Talent award at Utrecht University.
